Presidents Day; Reading and Spelling

Proper names can be challenging for children to read and spell.  For extra  practice, I suggest having your child read and/or spell the names of local government officials in honor of Presidents Day.  If your child gets stuck reading or spelling a name, I suggest cueing her to "sound it out;" this is known as the phonological approach.  If this does not work, then teach her the names by sight, which is known as the "whole language" approach.  Below are names of local government officials:

PA Governor: Tom Corbett
